Enhance Your Marketing By Giving

By Don Wong

While individual gift-giving to those close to you is a long-standing practice, few people are aware of the culture of giving corporate gifts. Businesses show that they are grateful to their customers or employees by giving away corporate gifts.

Corporate gifts are usually expensive things and they do not feature any company logo or brand name, as their purpose is not marketing or promotion. However, companies often conduct marketing through distribution of merchandise like pens, mouse pads, dongles, and other gifts to the staff and potential customers.

At the time of giving a corporate gift, it is critical to keep in consideration the interests of the individual to whom the gift is being given, and to customize it accordingly. Although custom and costly gift items are given to key customers of the company, the company personnel are usually given the same type of gift, which is not very expensive, but serves a useful purpose.

In order to reinforce and promote a healthy association with a client or an employee of the organization, it is important to remember that the perceived value of the corporate gift is critical. Conferring with internal lawyers of your organization before giving corporate gifts is a good idea, because in some countries the law might prohibit it.

It's important to prepare for corporate gift-giving beforehand by allocating a budget, planning the number of gifts to purchase, and looking for bulk deals with retailers. The planning part is more significant with respect to employee gifts, even more so if your organization is a mid-sized or large entity. You should buy the right number of gifts so that no employee whom you wish to appreciate is missed out.

To summarize, the custom of giving a corporate gift to your customers and employees is a good option for building strong working associations. However, always make sure that it is allowed by law, and of course, by your financial position.
